Kurt Mueller is a board-certified psychiatrist whose approach to adult psychiatry combines medication management and psychotherapy. After graduating from the University of California San Francisco, he founded a practice that has spanned more than three decades. The concept of “lifestyle medicine” has remained a strong interest, generally defined as whole-person, prescriptive lifestyle changes including activity, diet, restorative sleep, stress management, and positive social connections. After relocating to Flagstaff in 1997, he opened a private practice and began working in collaboration with a small number of area psychiatrists and mental health clinicians. He recently joined North Country Health Care’s project as interim Program Director to create a new psychiatric residency training program based in Flagstaff. The project shows great promise in addressing the crucial regional need for psychiatric physicians.
